Traditional Dance Company
SANTIAGO

This show has an approximate length of forty minutes and was premiered at our international folklore festival, which celebrated the inclusion of ten new country members of the EU. For this reason, the group has wanted to follow up this idea and we have built up a show which makes special reference to the European Santiago’s pilgrimage, to celebrate its European and traditional essence. Therefore, we have decided to stage the pilgrimage way which travels along the Basque coast. It begins in Ireland, moves through the UK towards the French coasts, to pass through the Cantabric area: Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and at the end of this journey, its final destination: Galicia.

During the forty minutes of this show the audience can watch dances from all these countries and regions, always making a special reference to our own culture. Among all these cultures we have found some common characteristics in pieces of music, dances and costumes. We lock together dances from these countries and from the Basque Country, so these common characteristics are highlited. The show also has Santiago (Galicia) as its final destination, where we celebrate a criss-cross of dance and musical events.
